Jesse James Woods, 69, of Elizabeth, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026, at WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center.

Born April 15, 1956, in Prestonsburg, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Grady Woods and Roselle Fairchild Woods.

Jesse was a man who believed in hard work and living simply. He found joy in staying busy, whether it was working with his hands, doing carpentry, or helping wherever he was needed. He loved listening to music and could often be found cheering on the Cincinnati Reds. More than anything, Jesse loved his family. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the pride of his life, and he cherished the time spent with them.

He leaves behind his children, Charmaine Gayheart (David), Marie Woods, and Jesse Woods; his siblings, Terry Woods (Pat), Tammy Woods, and Betty Woods; his beloved grandchildren, Savannah Gayheart, Natasha Gayheart, Anthony Gayheart, Tiffany Wright, Zachary Wright, Cassandra Blackburn, and Cheynne Boyd; and his great-grandchildren, Briar Dinnin and Vincent Urban.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sue Woods.

Though he may be gone from this world, the love he gave and the memories he created will remain in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 6, 2026, at Matheny Whited Funeral Home in Elizabeth, West Virginia. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, with services beginning at 1:00 PM, officiated by Rev. Larry Vanhorn. Burial will follow at K & P Cemetery in Elizabeth.
