Kathleen “Kitty” Richards, 63, of Le Roy, West Virginia, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2026, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by the love of her family. While her passing leaves an immeasurable emptiness in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, the memories she created and the love she shared will remain with them forever.

Kitty was born on October 13, 1963, in Ravenna, Ohio, a daughter of the late Henry Naef and Shirley Buchannon.

She was a 1981 graduate of Ravenna High School and continued her education at Kent State University, where she attended for two years. Kitty worked at Deerfield Farms as the president's assistant, a position she held with dedication and pride. She attended Pisgah Methodist Church.

Kitty found happiness in life's simple pleasures. She enjoyed fishing, antiquing, reading, and learning about history. She had a special love for hummingbirds, finding joy in their delicate beauty and the simple pleasure of watching them. She also took great pride in being a homemaker, creating a warm and loving home for her family.

More than anything, Kitty's greatest joy was her family. She treasured the moments spent together, whether they were special occasions or simply the quiet, everyday moments that become the most precious memories. Her love and presence were gifts to those fortunate enough to share in her life. Although her family must now face the days ahead without her, the love she shared will continue to live on in each of them.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Dean Richards; her children, Amanda (Clinton) Poff, Thomas (Naomi Hahn) Osdyke, and Nicholas (Cassandra Wiley) Richards; and her beloved grandchildren, Tristan Osdyke, Zoe Osdyke, and Aria Osdyke, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Naef and Shirley Buchannon.

Kitty's passing leaves a sorrow that words cannot fully express, but her family will forever hold close the memories of her love, the happiness they shared, and the countless ways she touched their lives. Though she is no longer physically by their side, she will always remain a part of their hearts and the stories they carry forward.

At this time, there will be no services. A celebration of Kitty's life will be held at a later date, allowing family and friends to come together to honor her memory and the life she lived.

Matheny Whited Funeral Home of Elizabeth, West Virginia, is honored to assist the Richards family during this difficult time.
