We mournfully announce the passing of Michael Paul Ellison, 64, of Elizabeth, WV. Mike passed away on February 21, 2024, after courageously fighting a hard battle with brain cancer.  Mike was born to the late Robert and Ruth Ellison, taking his first breath February 16, 1960.

He graduated from Wirt County High School in 1979 and later went on to take classes at WUP where he received certificates in both heating and air conditioning as well as welding.  He was a member of the Army National Guard Unit 1092 as a heavy diesel mechanic for 12 years.  After retiring from St. Joseph's Hospital Sterile Processing Unit, he enjoyed his love for the outdoors. Mike loved fishing and because he was an avid shooter, he loved hunting.

He is survived by his sister, Debra Neptune (Marvin) of Elizabeth, WV; two nephews Donavin and Daniel Neptune; one niece, Jessica Townsend; a beloved great-niece Danica Neptune; two adopted sisters, Tammy Morrow (Paul) of Palestine, W and Barbara VanDyke (Joey) of Christiansburg, VA.; a longtime friend, Debbie Campbell and several more wonderful family and friends.

Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Sunday February 25, 2024, at Matheny Whited Funeral Home, Elizabeth, WV. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m., with Harold Ellison officiating. Interment will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Wirt County, WV. Matheny Whited Funeral Home of Elizabeth was honored to assist the Ellison family.
