Mitchell Wayne Lockhart 40, of Palestine WV, passed away June 14, 2023, at his residence. He was the son of the late Randy Lockhart and Brenda (Taylor) Lockhart Barrett.

He was a 2000 graduate of Wirt County High School, and a graduate of West Virginia University with a degree in Civil Engineering. He worked for a few years in Virginia Beach as an engineer, then returned to Wirt County and worked as a construction contractor for several years. He attended Tri-County Worship Center. Mitchell enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, canning, and being outdoors with his children.

He is survived by his wife Erika-Lynn (Davis) Lockhart: children Myranda Lockhart, Atlas Lockhart, Ashton Lockhart, Reagan McVey, Silas McVey and Jordan Davis; half-sister Brittany; grandmother Pauline Lockhart; aunts Lou Ann (Jeff) Thorn, Oleta Taylor, Jackie Tomblin, Nena Greathouse, and Gina Haney; uncles William Taylor and Bob Taylor.; cousins Justin Thorn, Nick Thorn and several other cousins.

In addition to both his parents he was preceded in death by his grandfather Melvin Lockhart and uncle Charles Lee Lockhart.

Memorial services will be 2:00PM, Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Matheny Whited Funeral Home of Elizabeth. Visitation with friends and family will be from 1:00PM until time of service. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
